1Srinagar, Jan 08 (KNO): Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, police on Wednesday said to have arrested three drug peddlers in Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
A police party headed by SHO Police Station Baramulla at a checkpoint established at Khawajabagh Baramulla, intercepted one person. During the search, 60 tablets of Alprazolam and 29 tablets of Pacitane psychotropic substances were recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Sarfaraz Ahmad Dar son of Sonaullah Dar resident of Kralhar Baramulla, a police spokesman said in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).
Similarly, a police party of Police Station Boniyar at a checkpoint established at Banali Boniyar, intercepted one suspicious person identified as Mehraj-ud-Din Sheikh son of Gh Hassan resident of Dudran. During the search, 54 grams of Heroin-like substance was recovered from his possession, police said.
Moreover, a police party of Police Post Wagoora at a checkpoint established at Takiya Wagoora, intercepted one suspicious person identified as Jahangir Ahmad Shah son of Mehraj ud Din resident of Takiya Wagoora. During the search, 30 grams of Charas-like substance was recovered from his possession, police said.
All the accused persons have been arrested and shifted to respective police stations. Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigation has been initiated, police said.
“We urge the common masses that if you witness drug peddling or any other crime anywhere near you, feel free to contact the nearest police establishment or dial 112. People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per law,” police said—(KNO)
